This workshop will provide an opportunity for your team to take a trial run at INSTANT
CHALLENGES. Also, we will present the many uses of several materials that are commonly
provided, sharing ideas on how to navigate an Instant Challenge quickly, and how to
prepare a story presentation challenge from beginning, middle and end. There will be two
2- hour sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Up to 20 teams in each
session, inviting a total of 40 teams taking advantage of this workshop. TWO TEAM
MANAGERS ONLY may accompany their team, and you will be asked to assist us with all
student’s attention and their respect of time for all their fellow DI’ers. This opportunity is
not offered for the Rising Stars Teams.

Destination Imagination of Southwest Colorado is hosting an Instant Challenge (IC) Workshop on Saturday, January 25th, 1:00-3:30 PM at Escalante Middle School, 141 Baker Lane in Durango. The first 2 hours will be workshops focused on different aspects of Instant Challenge such as storytelling and using materials. The last 1/2 hour is reserved for Q&A with our tournament volunteers about IC or other parts of your DI journey. Come one, come all!!

South Metro Teams Only: Instant Challenge Day is the perfect opportunity for your team to receive hands on experience in front of appraisers in a noncompetitive setting. Each team will rotate through 4 different types of challenges, be given feedback on their solution, teamwork and hints to make tournament day Instant Challenge less stressful. The challenges are tournament level appropriate.
Appraisers: Each team is required to provide one volunteer appraiser, this can be a parent, teacher, grandparent or…. if you’d like to see what Instant Challenge is all about have a parent escort your team and you be the appraiser. This person needs to commit to appraising until approximately 1:00 pm on Instant Challenge Day. There will be a training in the morning before teams arrive so no need to worry if your volunteer isn’t familiar with Instant Challenge. We’ll training them and make sure they are placed with an experience person. Your team will not be considered registered without a volunteer. Instant Challenge Day can’t happen without volunteers!

Attention Middle School Teams! Welcome to a whole new DI experience.
Come experience DI in a whole new way! You and your team will be given a 4-part challenge to solve in one 4 hour period. Compete with your DI team, or just come on your own and we will create a team for you. Enjoy solving a DI challenge along with fun and games.
Important: This Event is for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders only!! You must register for this event by October 20,2023. Space is limited this event always sells out.
$10 a person.
